A feasibility study for Site Gallery in Sheffield, which allowed it to successfully apply for Arts Council funding to treble its current space and provide new flexible galleries, events space, café and a performance area.
The gallery occupies a 19th century steel foundry on Brown Street in Sheffield and was given the opportunity to extend into the adjacent SIF building owned by the City Council. We developed a brief from the business case and studied spatial requirements to propose a layout that would be accessible and legible for visitors, users and artists. Through a whole life costing analysis and improvement measures we showed how the building could aim for an Excellent BREEAM rating. The project is being taken forward for design and construction with an expected completion date of 2017.
