Sidney Close is set on a steeply sloping site next to the busy M40. The layout groups homes around a communal garden, protecting the amenity space from motorway noise and providing somewhere for residents to meet and children to play.
It's spacious, definitely. This is a really big house for a two bedroom. The rooms are massive - it's just a blessing!

The garden is easily accessed from each of the homes, making it easy for children to play out and parents to feel comfortable. The slope is overcome with wheelchair access around the perimeter of the garden.
My kids love the outside bit. Every day, after school, before school if they can, they are out there. And all the time at the weekend. If we're in, they're out there, even if it's cold.

The layout of the homes echo’s Jørn Utzon’s Kingo housing in Helinsgør, Denmark. Utzon created a series of identical single storey L-shaped houses. Repeatable plans gave each home a private courtyard and the opportunity to enjoy community life, through shared green spaces.. There are many advantages to this plan: A set back courtyard space providing privacy as well as close connection to the communal garden at the end of the living room, dual aspect to most rooms and at Sidney Close, a car port, tucked under the bedroom at first floor.

Sidney Close has a real community feel. Although it's small, it has become one of our flagship schemes.
