White Lion Street

The 1200sqm building is on a very tight site on White Lion Street in Islington and provides a rare and special opportunity of creating a new stand alone building in Central London. The proposal coherently resolves the three different challenges for the facade; street facing, boundary walls and close proximity to buildings at the rear.

The scheme comprises a restaurant, offices and a penthouse served by one core.

The subtle faceting of the facades allows for the experience of the building to change when moving along the street, it also plays with the perspective by reversing the expected scale moving up the facade. The distinct geometric shadows slowly change during the day and form immaterial ornaments to the building.
